
Christopher Snyder, DO, has been in primary care and hospital medicine for 28 years. He graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in St. Petersburg, Fla., in family practice. He has been board certified in family practice since 1996 and practiced primary care for five years before becoming a hospitalist at what is now TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in 2002.
Dr. Snyder is now chief quality officer and the physician advisor for utilization review and case management at TidalHealth. Prior to his current role, he was the chief medical information officer starting in 2004 and was involved in the development and implementation of a fully integrated clinical informatics system.
He specializes in clinical data mining and physician engagement using evidence-based educational and informatics tools. The clinical analytics developed under Dr. Snyder’s leadership have demonstrated the modification of clinical staff behavior, yielding improved patient safety and reduced cost and utilization.
He also has 25 years’ experience as a deputy medical examiner for the State of Maryland.
Dr. Snyder was appointed for a six-year term as an advisor for the National Quality Forum’s Health Information Technology Advisory Committee and was on the Maryland Health Information Exchange clinical board, also known as the Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients, or CRISP. He also served as chief of TidalHealth’s COVID-19 response team. He has won numerous awards and continues to practice medicine at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional as a hospitalist.
