David Beardsley, MD was an officer in the US Navy for more than 30 years. The cofounder/senior officer of the Federal Health Care Center in Chicago, Ill., he served as Chief Operating Officer, founding multiple residencies/fellowships in affiliation with Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine (psychiatry, internal medicine, GI and cardiology).
He served in multiple committee roles including clinical/OR administrative operations, executive steering councils, infection control, residency/research oversite and quality assurance as an early adopter of total quality/six sigma approaches. As an anesthesiologist, he trained residents and medical students in multiple roles and programs.
He has special interest in all aspects of local anesthetics to include molecular function with translational applications to cardiac and neurologic function with special regard to neurotoxicity and safe expansion of clinical applications for traditional medications.
Dr. Beardsley attended Williams College for his bachelor’s degree, graduating with highest honors in chemistry, economics and history (triple major). He earned his medical degree and research attendance with Dr. Bart Chernow at the Uniformed University SOM in Bethesda, Md., while involved in glucagon and calcium channel pharmacology related to attenuation of surgical stress. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, working closely with FDA researchers.
Dr. Beardsley completed his residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., where he headed the Anesthesia Research Program for many years.
