Program overview
Welcome to TidalHealth’s Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. We appreciate your interest in joining us, and congratulations on completing your residency journey. Our hospital, with roots dating back to 1897 as Peninsula General Hospital, proudly transitioned to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in 2020. The health system is well-known for clinical excellence and has been recognized with national awards.
We recruit two gastroenterology fellows each year in our fellowship program. We have one program director, one associate program director, one director for research and scholarly activities, and a program coordinator. We have additional faculty members who are experienced physicians dedicated to patient care and medical education.
Our program objectives include:
- Developing fellows into caring, competent, independently practicing gastroenterology physicians who will serve the community and be leaders in their field.
- Recruiting, training and retaining diverse candidates and fellows within the local community at TidalHealth and affiliate hospitals and centers.
- Providing fellows with experiences in all areas of gastroenterology, including inpatient, ambulatory clinical services, procedures and hepatology training at our affiliated hospital.
- Providing our fellows with the necessary leadership and research tools to become leaders in the field of gastroenterology.
- Instilling in the fellows the importance of lifelong learning and continuing to develop an understanding of the best practices in the field.
