Dr. Sharon Milbourne Washington is a native of Somerset County, MD and a graduate of Washington High School, Princess Anne, Md.
Sharon enlisted in the United States Army right after graduation. During her tenure she achieved the esteemed United States Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medals, Overseas Medal, Honor Graduate, and Sharpshooter Medal amongst others. She was stationed at various military installations to include Ft. Dix, New Jersey, Ft Sam Houston, Texas, and 5th General Hospital, Stuttgart, Germany and others in Europe on support status.
After the military, Sharon began employment with the Md. Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services as a Correctional Officer where she became a State of Md. Correctional Auditor for Eastern Correctional Institution until she retired. She is currently a Board-Certified Chaplain & Pastoral Counselor for TidalHealth Peninsula Regional and a Programs & Services Coordinator for the Spiritual Care Association. She is also Co-Founder of God’s Chosen Spiritual Counseling, catering to teens, young adults and adolescents.
Sharon is a licensed/ordained Pastor & Founder, along with her husband, of Global Hope Ministries, Inc. a hybrid ministry catering to all people all over the world. Sharon’s vast community work includes Vice Chair of the Executive Board for Coastal Hospice, Lower Shore Black Professional Alliance, Citizens Review Board for children appointed by Gov. Wes Moore, a “Kindness Commissioner’ for Wicomico County, Executive Board Member of 1Year to Empowerment & The Child and Family Center, United Association of Black Female Veterans, a member of The Princess Anne (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporate, NAACP amongst others.
Dr. Washington holds an Associate of Business, Associate of Ministry, a Dual Bachelor of Organizational Psychology & Development & Business Administration-Summa Cum Laude, a Bachelor of Divinity, a Master of Divinity and a PhD in Christian Education.
Sharon was nominated by a community member and chosen from over 450 leading women as one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women 2022 by The Daily Record, which recognizes high-achieving Maryland women who are making an impact through their leadership, community service and mentoring. Winners are selected by past Top 100 Women and business leaders.
She is the author of the resource book & published Work – “Greek Philosophy in Christian Theology; An Intellectual Synthesis Shapes the West” available on Amazon.
One of Dr Washington's mottos is "The development of strong relationships is the foundation of everything I do, both professionally and personally." Sharon is married and lives with her family.
