In September, the Gift of Life Donor Program presented the DoNation Award, a special recognition from Donate Life America and the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), to TidalHealth Nanticoke for its dedication to promoting organ and tissue donation and transplants.
DoNation is a national initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the HRSA to educate our community about the crucial need for organ, eye, and tissue donation and to encourage people to sign up as organ and tissue donors. It also recognizes hospitals for promoting engagement and advocacy in the communities they serve.
TidalHealth Nanticoke was recognized for demonstrating support and collaboration through leadership engagement, education sessions for its healthcare team, the Honor Walk program, and promotion of National Donate Life Month in April including a flag raising ceremony and tabling events.
Over the past five years, TidalHealth Nanticoke has supported 24 organ donors and their families, resulting in 73 lifesaving organ transplants for waiting patients.
