TidalHealth is committed to improving the health of the communities we serve through the values of quality, community and service. Our goal is that everyone who interacts with TidalHealth should expect a safe, caring, and inclusive environment in all our spaces.
This Patient Code of Conduct is intended to help us achieve this goal by establishing expectations that will ensure a positive clinical environment for all patients, visitors, and team members. It is our expectation that all patients and visitors will adhere to these standards. By doing so, we can both help ensure an environment of mutual respect.
The following behavior will not be tolerated:
- Yelling, using profanity, name-calling, or other actions that disrupt the care and treatment of our patients or is disrespectful to our TidalHealth team members
- Threatening TidalHealth team members, patients, or visitors
- Sexual or vulgar words or actions
- Throwing objects and/or destroying property
- Making offensive, disrespectful, or discriminatory comments about another individual’s race, accent, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other personal traits
- Refusing to interact with any TidalHealth team members based upon their race, accent, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other personal traits
- Photographing and/or recording anyone without permission
- Using drugs or alcohol while receiving treatment
- Using tobacco, vaping, e-cigarette, and other nicotine products while on TidalHealth campus
- Possession of any firearms or weapons while in a TidalHealth facility
If we believe that you have violated the code with unwelcome words or actions, you will be given the opportunity to explain your point of view. We will always listen carefully and consider your response before we make any decisions about your future care at TidalHealth.
A Patient Behavioral Agreement may be put into place as we reinforce our expectations about the behavior witnessed. Violations of this code may lead to patients being asked to make alternative plans for their care, and any future non-emergent care at TidalHealth may require review. TidalHealth reserves the right to terminate the healthcare-patient relationship with you and discharge you from its care.
Visitors who violate this code will also be subject to removal from the facility.
If you witness or are a target of any of these behaviors, please report it to your care team. Instances of violations of this code will be evaluated by TidalHealth leadership and will be reported to law enforcement as appropriate.
TidalHealth team members are expected to adhere to similar behavioral standards.
