
Ovais Khalid, MD, is the chief of psychiatry and behavioral health services at TidalHealth, associate program director of TidalHealth’s Psychiatry Residency Program, and a clinical assistant professor at both Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine at Rowan University in New Jersey and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Khalid specializes in psychiatry – treating mental health illnesses across the spectrum of mental health disorders. He has a special interest in treating chronic mental health disorders. He will be mentoring and supervising fellows while rotating in the outpatient behavioral health clinic.
He completed his residency in psychiatry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La., in 2013 in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.
Dr. Khalid received his board certification in psychiatry and neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2013, became a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in 2015, and was certified by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons in 2019. During his time at LSU-HSC, he earned several awards, including the Competency Award in recognition of excellence in professionalism and medical knowledge and the Psychiatry Scholar Award for outstanding academic and research publications. He also has a Master of Public Health degree.
Dr. Khalid is a member of the Maryland Psychiatric Society, American Psychiatry Association, Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association and the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology.
In previous years, Dr. Khalid has published an impressive amount of research. While attending Rawalpindi Medical College, Dr. Khalid helped organize the Second International Conference of GI and Hepatology in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He was also a dedicated member of a social welfare organization, Students’ Federation for Poor Patients, and organizer of the Emergency Blood Bank.
Dr. Khalid is proficient in English, Urdu and Hindi.
