Lung Cancer CT Screening
Lung cancer is the second most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in the United States.
According to the American Lung Association, lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in both men and women in the United States. It causes more deaths than colon, breast and prostate cancer combined.
TidalHealth offers low-dose computed tomography (CT) lung cancer screenings in Salisbury, Crisfield, and Seaford. These CT scans can detect small nodules that may not be visible on a standard chest X-ray.
Eligibility and coverage may vary depending on your insurance plan, but the U.S. preventative services task force (USPSTF) recommends annual screening for patients meeting the following eligibility criteria:
- Age 50-80 years
- No signs or symptoms of lung cancer
- Tobacco smoking history of at least 20 pack-years (one pack year= smoking one pack per day for 1 year)
- Currently smoke or quit within the last 15 years
