TidalHealth has a lot to be proud of.
Not only has the health system been recognized for its exceptional patient care and quality outcomes, it has also received several grants to further its mission of improving the health of the communities it serves.
In 2023, a total of 18 services earned a Healthgrades 5-star rating, which indicates the health system is performing significantly better than peer services at other U.S. hospitals. Among those, treatment of carotid procedures was 5-star rated for the 14th consecutive year, and treatment of hip fracture for the ninth consecutive year.
In partnership with the local health departments and a coalition of community-based stakeholders, TidalHealth was awarded $1.2 million to support the Rural Equity and Access to Community Health (REACH) project. The REACH project was the only grantee on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Asthma, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, mental health, substance use disorder, maternal and child health, and sickle cell disease will be additional disparities targeted by the new grant.
TidalHealth also received a grant in 2023 totaling $209,425 from the Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund, which is designated to facilitate significant targeted investments in important economic and community development programs. TidalHealth and the Salisbury Fire Department will continue to advance the SWIFT program by adding occupational and physical therapy services and providing minor home repairs to improve safety and prevent falls.
