About Chris Snyder, DO, Teaching Faculty
Chris Snyder, DO has worked in primary care and hospital medicine for 29 years. He graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his family practice residency in St. Petersburg, Florida. He has been board certified in family practice since 1996.
After five years in primary care, Dr. Snyder became a hospitalist at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in 2002. He currently serves as Chief Quality Officer and physician advisor for utilization review and case management at TidalHealth.
Dr. Snyder also has 25 years of experience as a deputy medical examiner for the state of Maryland, providing forensic investigation and clinical guidance to local and federal authorities involved in death investigations.
In 2004, he became TidalHealth’s Chief Medical Information Officer, leading the development and implementation of a fully integrated clinical informatics system. He was named Chief Quality Officer in 2018 and focuses on clinical data mining and physician engagement through evidence-based education and informatics tools.
Under Dr. Snyder’s leadership, clinical analytics have been used to influence staff behavior, improve patient safety, and reduce costs and utilization. He served a six-year term as an advisor to the National Quality Forum’s Health Information Technology Advisory Committee and was a member of the clinical board for the Maryland Health Information Exchange (CRISP).
Dr. Snyder has received multiple honors for his work in clinical informatics, including the 2010 AMDIS Award for promoting patient safety, the 2009 CPOE Contest award for clinical informatics, and the McKesson Distinguished Achievement Award for clinical excellence in both 2011 and 2013. In 2010, Modern Healthcare named him one of the top 25 clinical informaticists in the country.
In March 2020, Dr. Snyder was appointed to lead TidalHealth’s COVID-19 response team, overseeing clinical operations related to the pandemic across the health system and surrounding communities.
He was voted Wicomico County Healthcare Hero in both 2022 and 2023, and in 2024, received the Coastal Hospice Quality of Life Advocate Award in Wicomico County.
Dr. Snyder continues to practice medicine at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional as a hospitalist.
