About MohammadWaqar Mohmand, MD, MPH, FAPA

Dr. Mohmand is a double board-certified child and adolescent and general psychiatrist who serves as the medical director of child and adolescent inpatient services at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional. He joined TidalHealth following several years of academic, inpatient, and outpatient practice, bringing extensive clinical expertise and administrative leadership experience.

Before relocating to the Eastern Shore, Dr. Mohmand spent more than two decades at Sheppard Pratt, where he held multiple leadership positions. His roles included service chief of the Children’s Unit and the Adolescent Female Unit, as well as medical director of the Eleanor Berkley Mann Residential Treatment Center. His longstanding work across diverse levels of care has shaped his comprehensive and developmentally informed approach to psychiatric treatment.

Dr. Mohmand completed his general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship through the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt program, where he served as both chief resident and chief fellow. He also holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and maintains an active academic role as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and awarded fellowship of American Psychiatric Association.

Since moving to Salisbury, Dr. Mohmand has enjoyed becoming part of the Eastern Shore community. He is committed to supporting children, adolescents and families in the region and values the opportunity to work closely with residents and trainees as they develop their clinical skills and professional identities.

Outside of his clinical and academic work, Dr. Mohmand enjoys staying active, having transitioned from tennis and pickleball to golf after relocating, and has a longstanding interest in travel and global cultures.
