Robert L. Joyner Jr., Ph.D., RRT, RRT-ACCS, FAARC, is an accomplished researcher, educator, and healthcare leader with over three decades of experience in respiratory care, academic leadership, and clinical research. As Director of the Richard A. Henson Research Institute at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, Dr. Joyner oversees the health system’s clinical research operations, guiding innovation that bridges evidence-based research with frontline patient care. He is Professor Emeritus at Salisbury University, where he previously served as Director of the School of Health Sciences and led numerous interdisciplinary initiatives in education and healthcare workforce development.
Dr. Joyner earned his Ph.D. in Physiology from Dartmouth College’s Geisel School of Medicine and holds multiple national credentials in respiratory therapy. A Fellow of the American Association for Respiratory Care (FAARC) and past President of the National Board for Respiratory Care, he has published extensively on cardiopulmonary care, clinical outcomes, and health systems innovation.
