About Suni Jani, MD, MPH, FAPA - Core Faculty

Dr. Suni Jani is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist, a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a medical review officer, and a board-certified physician in both addiction medicine and obesity medicine. She currently practices in the state of Maryland. Dr. Jani earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from The George Washington University. She completed her general psychiatry residency training at Baylor College of Medicine and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also served as chief fellow.

An accomplished scholar and educator, Dr. Jani has authored numerous publications and delivered scientific presentations on a wide range of topics, including cross-cultural psychiatry, LGBTQIA+ mental health, post-traumatic stress disorder, refugee mental health, substance use disorders, capacity evaluations, disaster psychiatry, autism spectrum disorder, neuropsychiatry, technology in psychiatry, and psychopharmacology. Her published work also includes book chapters on anxiety disorders, trauma, and an overview of DSM-5 diagnostic categories. She is the co-editor of The Handbook of Refugee Experience: Trauma, Resilience, and Recovery.
