
Sushma Jani, MD
About Sushma Jani, MD - Core Faculty
Dr. Sushma Jani is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and pediatrician with additional board certifications in forensic psychiatry and addiction medicine. She completed her general psychiatry training at Indiana University in Indianapolis and pursued subspecialty training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University. Her pediatric training was completed at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Jani is board certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and pediatrics, and is a diplomate of the American College of Forensic Medicine, certified by the American College of Forensic Examiners. She is a fellow of both the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Her professional service includes consultation with the Family Preservation Initiative (now the Family League of Baltimore), the Advisory Board of Family Involved Together (FIT Program), CHADD, and other organizations supporting community-based care for children with special needs.
An active researcher and educator, Dr. Jani has authored numerous publications and has presented nationally on topics including child psychopharmacology, psychiatric emergencies, ADHD treatment refusal, anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder. She previously served as a subject matter expert for the Defense Centers of Excellence (DCoE).
Dr. Jani currently serves as medical director at Maple Shade Youth and Family Services and Community Behavioral Health, two outpatient mental health clinics providing care to rural populations on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
