Griffith Batstone, MD, FRCS, FRACS, FRCSC
Physician Overview
Griffith Batstone, MD, FRCS, FRACS, FRCSC graduated from Downing College, Cambridge University in Cambridge, UK and received his medical degree from the University of Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal Canadian College of Physicians and Surgeons-Urology, completing both his internship and residency at Cambridge University.
Dr. Batstone has presented extensively and internationally on various urologic topics and is the recipient of numerous research grants for his studies on chronic prostatitis and benign prostate diseases. He is expert at Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate HoLEP (a minimally invasive BPH outpatient surgery suitable for any sized prostate including the remarkably large glands) having mentored surgeons learning this technique nationally and internationally at large teaching institutions.
Dr. Batstone cared for patients at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Maine, from 2007-2024, where he was Chief of Surgery from 2019-2021; president-elect and chairman of the Bylaws and Credentials Committee from 2021-2023; and president of the medical staff from July 2023 until his departure. He also worked in Bangor, Maine, from 2012-2023. His medical career spans more than 30 years, and he is currently vice president of the Maine Urological Association.
