Physician Overview
Ian Baxter, DO is originally from Pittsburgh, Pa. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California University of Pennsylvania.
A recipient of the Air Force Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship, he graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001. He completed his OB/GYN residency at Wright State University School of Medicine and Wright-Patterson Medical Center in 2005.
Dr. Baxter fulfilled his military commitment at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska as a Major, where he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. During this time, he was also a clinical instructor with Creighton University Medical School, training OB/GYN residents.
Since 2008, Dr. Baxter has practiced in Delaware, caring largely for an underserved patient population. He is also a national speaker and trainer for several organizations, focusing on women’s health topics and techniques to increase access to women’s health services by eliminating barriers to accessing care, practicing shared decision-making, and counseling techniques to avoid bias and coercion.
Dr. Baxter provides comprehensive OB/GYN care, including high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive surgery, same-day contraceptive access, recurrent pregnancy loss, treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding and pelvic pain.
