Mehak Bassi, MD earned her medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India. She completed her internal medicine residency at Saint Peter’s University Hospital/Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where she was selected to serve as a fourth-year chief resident. She went on to complete her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the same institution, where she was named chief fellow in her final year.
She has a strong clinical interest in complex inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac disease, obesity-related digestive disorders, and a broad spectrum of general gastrointestinal conditions. She is skilled in performing colonoscopies, endoscopies, enteroscopies and small bowel capsule studies.
In addition to her clinical work, she is deeply committed to medical education and actively participates in community outreach programs focused on IBD awareness and early detection of colorectal cancer.
She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and was recently recognized as an emerging leader through the ACG Leadership YOU program.
She is fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
