At the TidalHealth Richard A. Henson Research Institute best practices are an ever-changing goal. Integration of our clinical trials with patient care helps us create the best model to achieve our objectives.
Patients have been enrolling in our translational research studies for almost 30 years. In 2017, thanks to a generous donation from the Richard A. Henson Foundation, we opened in a newly renovated location at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.
The TidalHealth Richard A. Henson Research Institute enhances the community’s access to medical research for our community. It serves as the centralized hub of knowledge and resources that researchers use to strengthen the coordination of care and intensive follow-up required to manage patients enrolled on clinical research protocols.
The Institute helps healthcare practitioners at TidalHealth to provide patients with state of the science clinical trials and observational studies through its partnerships with leading organizations such as the Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network, national cooperative groups of the National Cancer Institute and the healthcare industry.

The TidalHealth Richard A. Henson Research Institute facilitates access to state of the science clinical research for the TidalHealth health system community. The Research Institute’s clinical, translational, and educational research efforts engage three pivotal areas of care: Innovative Oncology, Advanced Therapeutics, and Population Health; supporting TidalHealth physicians, care providers, and students to expand options to clinical care and enhance the environments where the care is provided. The goal of strengthening the effectiveness of healthcare delivery by TidalHealth is enriched through robust professional partnerships with the Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network, the National Cancer Institute’s cooperative groups and targeted healthcare industry sponsors of clinical research. The TidalHealth Richard A. Henson Research Institute has an important role in supporting TidalHealth’s identified objective of delivering world class medical care to the community we serve.
