School Wellness Centers

TidalHealth’s School Wellness Centers support the physical, emotional, and academic well-being of students by providing accessible healthcare services right where they learn. In partnership with local schools, our centers offer screenings, health education, counseling, and referrals to ensure students get the care and support they need to thrive.

Overview

Our mission is to provide our teenagers with a means of obtaining health services that can be coordinated with each teen’s family physician.

The Wellness Center is structured to meet not only the physical needs of today’s adolescent, but also the health education, nutritional, mental health, and emotional needs. The focus of the Wellness Center is on preventive services with a goal of promoting positive physical and mental health.

Wellness Center services were developed by an advisory council comprised of parents, students, faculty and healthcare providers. Students must have their parents or legal guardians consent to receive these services.

Adolescents are typically a medically underserved part of our population. They need a readily accessible source of care that is sensitive to their developmental and emotional needs. The school system is an ideal setting for the delivery of preventive health services. Access to health services on-site, including education regarding healthy lifestyles, is believed to increase school attendance and improve the students’ ability to concentrate in class.
