Jean Bulkeley of Patient Care Services at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional celebrated an incredible 60 years of service on Sept. 14, 2024! Jean is the second TidalHealth team member to reach this remarkable milestone, the first being Recie Marshall.
Jean has held a variety of positions throughout her remarkable 60-year career at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional. She occupied several positions at the beginning of her career after graduating from the PGH School of Nursing, including staff nurse in what was then the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), head nurse on 3 North and head nurse of the CCU.
Fast-forwarding to 1981, Jean accepted a staff development instructor position in the In-Service Education Department. Four years later, Jean was promoted to nursing director for CCU, 2 East and Hemodialysis. In 2001, Jean was named nursing director for all of Critical Care, 2 South, 2 West and 4 West.
Jean currently works as one of the administrative nursing supervisors for Patient Care Services, where she is responsible for daily nursing operations, including but not limited to nursing rounds, attending response codes, deaths, conflict resolution, resource for staff, etc. She leads by example and treats everyone with respect.
Jean personifies commitment, dedication and honesty, and is known for having one of the sharpest minds around. She is quick to apply what she has learned over her 60 years to a variety of challenging positions, all the while making patients and staff aware of what is happening.
Jean is active in the community, and her expertise in coordinating nurses for our Drive-Thru Flu Clinic has helped that event run smoothly for the past 30 years. Jean is also a gourmet cook who used to bake wedding cakes.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling the country with her friends. She truly loves her two families: her biological family and her hospital family, who universally love Jean more than she will ever know.
