Melissa Gunther, PA-C, cares for patients with digestive health conditions at TidalHealth Gastroenterology. She specializes in preventive gastroenterology, chronic digestive disorders and helping patients better understand symptoms that affect their daily lives. She is committed to a close partnership with each patient to understand their condition, symptoms and treatment options. She also focuses on educating patients about how they can help themselves through diet and lifestyle choices.
Care philosophy
Gunther believes in taking time to explain diagnoses, answer questions and review treatment options so that together, she and her patient can create an individualized care plan focused on long-term health and quality of life. Patients value her as a careful listener, collaborative partner and advocate who looks at the whole person, making sure they feel informed, respected, heard, comforted, at ease and supported throughout their care journey.
Beyond Patient Care
Outside of work, Gunther enjoys time with her family, dancing and traveling. She and her children volunteer with Wicomico Clean and Adopt-A-Block, helping beautify the community and support neighbors in need. Inspired by her mother, a longtime gastroenterology nurse at TidalHealth, she developed an early passion for digestive health and has been drawn to gastrointestinal care throughout her career in internal medicine, since 2012. A Salisbury resident since 1996, she is proud to care for the Delmarvalous community she knows and loves.
