Blankenship honored by Gift of Life Donor Program

Michael “Mike” Blankenship, a registered respiratory therapist at TidalHealth Nanticoke, has been recognized with a Certificate of Achievement from the Gift of Life Donor Program, Delaware’s organ procurement organization, for his role in a recent organ donation case.

Blankenship was honored for his exceptional dedication, initiative and hands-on support that helped deliver the gift of life to multiple transplant recipients. Members of the Gift of Life team described him as “resourceful” and “willing to do whatever was needed to make the donation happen.”

Blankenship received this award surrounded by his coworkers and peers from other departments within the hospital, highlighting the importance of teamwork in organ donation efforts.

Organ donation cases require close collaboration among clinical teams, transplant coordinators and support teams. Blankenship’s actions helped ensure that the process moved forward smoothly, ultimately supporting the lifesaving mission of organ donation.

The Gift of Life Donor Program serves as Delaware’s federally designated non-profit organ procurement organization, promoting organ donation awareness and coordinating life-saving organ and tissue transplants across the region. For more information, visit the Gift of Life Donor Program website.
