Salisbury Sunshine Awardee: October 2026

TidalHealth Peninsula Regional is pleased to announce that Jeanette Williams has been selected as its Sunshine Award recipient for October 2026.

Williams was nominated by a patient for her exceptional care:

"I was recently in the hospital for what turned out to be GI related blood loss requiring a transfusion of 4 units. In order to find the source of the bleed, an EGD and colonoscopy needed to be performed. I had to take the wonderful Fleets Phospho Soda prep so Dr. Canakis could get a good look. Of course, as a result of this prep, I had multiple bowel movements, most of which came with such force I could not hold it or get to the commode on time. 

I was blessed with this wonderful angel, Jeanette, who was with me four or five days. I know she had to be tired of the smell and from cleaning up my mess. I said to her at one point, ‘I am so sorry you have to do this.’ She then got this very humble look on her face, looked me right in the eyes, and ever so softly said, 'You shouldn't feel bad. It's my job.'

From the beginning to the end of my stay, she was the kindest human being I have ever met. She took care of me as a child would [take care of] her mother and as a mother would [take care of] her child. At all times she conducted herself with dignity and respect. She took pride in her work, and this was evident each time she had me, the bed and the room all cleaned up. She made me feel safe and well cared for. 

You see, I wasn't just a patient, but I am also a nurse. I would love to see her go to nursing school, because her conduct at all times was exemplary, and I must say Ms. Nightingale would have been proud. Miss Jeanette is certainly one of your finest. 

Please reward her goodness, kindness and love with something wonderful. I can't say enough good things about her or thank her enough."

Williams was honored in a ceremony before her coworkers and presented with fresh flowers, a pin and a certificate recognizing her exceptional devotion to team and patient care.
