Erich Traum, PT, DPT, provides outpatient physical therapy at TidalHealth Peninsula Orthopaedic Institute. He works with patients across the lifespan to restore movement and function following orthopedic conditions, sports injuries and running-related dysfunction.
Traum specializes in running rehabilitation, video analysis of running mechanics and return-to-sport rehabilitation. He uses an individualized, evidence-based approach that considers each patient’s stage of life, activity level and personal goals to support recovery, improve performance and promote long-term health.
Care philosophy
Traum combines an athlete-focused mindset with clinical rehabilitation expertise. Rather than treating symptoms alone, he works to rebuild each patient’s strength, mobility and overall capacity through progressive loading, return-to-running strategies and performance-based strength standards.
His goal is to help patients return to and sustain the activities that matter most to them, whether that means competing in a sport, running, exercising or moving confidently through daily life. He strives to help patients achieve lasting progress without recurring injury, compensation or fear of movement.
Throughout the rehabilitation process, Traum works to ensure patients feel informed, respected, heard and supported.
Outside of his work
Outside of work, Traum enjoys running, hiking, strength training and endurance challenges. He also values personal growth and self-reflection through journaling, breathwork and continued learning. Most importantly, he enjoys his role as a father, which helps guide his decisions, routines and long-term priorities.
