Frequently asked questions
Why is Atlantic General Hospital (AGH) partnering with TidalHealth?
AGH is joining TidalHealth to enhance access to care and strengthen healthcare in the region. The partnership allows for a more coordinated patient experience and the resources needed to continue to deliver quality care to this community for years to come.
How will this partnership benefit patients?
The goal of the affiliation is to strengthen and expand the healthcare services available to our communities. Patients will continue to receive the same high-quality care they are accustomed to, with enhanced service options becoming available as the integration progresses. There will be no disruption to patient care during the transition.
Will AGH remain open after the partnership?
Yes! AGH will continue to operate, providing the same high-quality care as before, now with the added strength and support of TidalHealth.
Will I need to find a new doctor?
No, you can continue seeing your current doctors and providers as usual. The partnership is designed to enhance, not disrupt, patient care.
Will my upcoming appointments be affected?
No, all previously scheduled appointments, procedures, and treatments will continue as planned.
Will AGH accept the same insurance plans after the partnership?
Yes, AGH will continue accepting the same insurance plans, and TidalHealth is working to ensure a seamless transition.
Will my medical records remain the same?
We are beginning the process of transitioning Atlantic General Hospital to TidalHealth’s Epic electronic medical records system (MyChart) over the coming months. In the meantime, your medical record with Atlantic General Hospital will remain the same until it can be securely transferred into Epic. You do not need to take any action, and you can continue to access your records through your FollowMyHealth portal account, if you have one, at this time. We will provide further details as we move closer to completion of the transfer.
Who do I contact if I have billing questions?
You can continue to contact the AGH billing department as usual. TidalHealth will provide updated information if there are any changes.
What will happen to the donations to the Atlantic General Foundation?
AGH has a rich history of philanthropic support in its community and TidalHealth has committed to preserving this relationship. Although the AGH Foundation will ultimately become a part of the TidalHealth Foundation, all funds raised in support of AGH will stay in the community and be designated for their intended AGH purpose.
Will the health system's name change?
Atlantic General Hospital will eventually become TidalHealth Atlantic, and all medical practices and other services outside of the hospital will also assume the TidalHealth name. This will happen over time, but the focus will remain on continuity of care for patients.
Will the quality of care at AGH change?
Patients can expect the same great quality care from Atlantic General Hospital, with more seamless access to specialty care options becoming available as the integration progresses.
