Overview
TidalHealth bills all of the insurance companies you provide at registration for any hospital and physician services you receive. Please have your insurance cards or other insurance information available at the time of your arrival.
Once payment is received from the insurance company, TidalHealth will bill you for any remaining balance.
No Surprises Act
If you do not have insurance or are not using insurance for a non-emergency service, you have the right to a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost in conjunction with scheduling.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises, or call the No Surprises Help Desk at 1-800-985-3059 or TidalHealth at 410-543-7700.
Balance Billing
When you get emergency care or are treated by an out-of-network provider at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, you are protected from balance billing. In these cases, you shouldn’t be charged more than your health plan’s copayments, coinsurance and/or deductible.
For questions or more information about your rights, visit, The Maryland Department of Health, The Delaware Healthcare Association, www.cms.gov/nosurprises, or call the No Surprises Help Desk at 1-800-985-3059 or TidalHealth at 410-912-6938.

Understanding Your Insurance Coverage
It is important for you to understand the terms of your insurance coverage. Health insurance providers may have special requirements, such as using in-network providers or precertification needed prior to your admission. If your plan requirements are not followed, you could be held financially responsible for all or part of the services received during your hospitalization.
If you do not have insurance, payment is due at the time of service. Our financial counselors will discuss financial arrangements with you or will help you apply for Medical Assistance or investigate other programs that may help with your healthcare bill.
If you are unable to pay your bill, our financial assistance program provides free or reduced cost care for non-elective services to those in the community who are financially eligible. In order for us to determine eligibility, a patient must complete a financial assistance application.
