Carlos Chavez de Paz, MD, MPH, FACS earned his medical degree from San Fernando Medical School at the National University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru. He completed a combined general and oncologic surgery residency at the National Cancer Institute, affiliated with Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in Lima; a general surgery residency at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California; and pursued advanced research in epidemiology, earning a Master of Public Health. Dr. Chavez further specialized in head and neck oncologic surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.
He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Peruvian Society of Surgical Oncology.
With more than 20 years of experience as a general surgeon, Dr. Chavez has held several academic appointments and has authored and presented a wide range of clinical research.
