Robotic Surgery
At TidalHealth, our team works closely with you and your physician to provide surgical services in a caring, timely manner. We are proud to offer advanced robotic surgery using the da Vinci Surgical Robot, which allows for minimally invasive procedures with smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery times. This technology helps get you home quicker and feeling better sooner.
Minimally invasive surgery, including robotic and laparoscopic procedures, uses small incisions and a high-definition camera so our specialists can clearly see and work with the anatomy. Many different surgical specialties at TidalHealth have adopted these techniques, and thousands of procedures are performed each year using this advanced approach.
What Is Robotic Surgery?
Robotic surgery at TidalHealth uses advanced surgical robots. From a special console in the operating room, your surgeon guides tiny instruments with great precision, translating their hand movements into scaled movements at the surgical site. The system provides a magnified, three-dimensional view, which allows for exact and gentle treatment, even for complex surgeries, all through very small incisions.
Benefits of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery
- Less pain after surgery
- Smaller incisions and less scarring
- Shorter hospital stays
- Faster recovery and return to daily activities
- Lower risk of some surgical complications

Will I have a lot of pain after robotic surgery?
Robotic and minimally invasive surgery often results in less pain and a shorter recovery time compared to traditional open surgery. Our team will work with you to manage any discomfort with medication and other supportive care.
How long will I stay in the hospital?
Many robotic surgeries allow patients to go home the same day or after a short stay. Recovery time varies depending on the procedure and your individual needs. Your care team will talk with you about what to expect.
How do I prepare for surgery?
Your physician will talk with you about how to get ready for surgery. This may include completing a pre-anesthesia questionnaire, sharing details about your medications, and following instructions such as not eating or drinking after midnight before your surgery. Our staff will help guide you through each step.
Who will be involved in my care?
Your care team at TidalHealth includes your surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurses, and other staff who will help ensure your safety and comfort before, during, and after your procedure.
Can my family stay with me before and after surgery?
Your family or a significant other may stay with you before your robotic surgery in the Day Surgery Unit, with some visitor limits due to space. We will do our best to support both you and your loved ones throughout the process.
