Robotic Surgery
TidalHealth continues to invest in robotic surgery capabilities across all three of our hospitals, giving patients access to advanced surgical options close to home. For appropriate patients, robotic-assisted surgery may offer smaller incisions, less discomfort and a smoother recovery.
Our surgeons combine specialized training and advanced technology to determine the most appropriate surgical approach for each patient. You and your care team will discuss your options and create a plan based on your condition, health history and personal treatment goals.
What is robotic surgery?
Robotic-assisted surgery allows specially trained surgeons to perform certain procedures with greater precision, control and visualization. Using specialized instruments inserted through small incisions, the surgeon controls the technology and guides every movement throughout the procedure.
Robotic-assisted surgery is one of several advanced surgical options available at TidalHealth. Our surgeons use robotic technology and other minimally invasive techniques to provide personalized across a range of specialties.
Depending on your procedure, condition and individual needs, robotic-assisted or minimally invasive surgery may offer benefits such as:
- Smaller incisions
- Less discomfort after surgery
- Less scarring
- A shorter hospital stay for some procedures
- A faster recovery and return to daily activities
- A lower risk of certain complications
Your surgeon will talk with you about your options and recommend the approach that is best suited to your needs.

How long will I stay in the hospital?
Many robotic-assisted procedures allow patients to return home the same day or after a short hospital stay. The length of your stay and recovery time will depend on your procedure and individual needs. Your care team will discuss what to expect.
How do I prepare for robotic surgery?
Your care team will provide instructions to help you prepare for your procedure. This may include completing a pre-anesthesia questionnaire, reviewing your medications and following specific guidelines about eating and drinking before surgery.
Be sure to follow the instructions provided by your care team and contact them with any questions before your procedure.
