Microvascular Surgery

Our caring team works closely with you and your doctor to offer advanced surgical treatments using minimally invasive techniques designed to support your recovery and comfort.

At TidalHealth, microvascular surgery is performed with a focus on your comfort, safety, and best possible recovery. Our caring team works closely with your physician to coordinate surgical care using advanced and minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopy and robotic-assisted technology. These methods typically require smaller incisions, which helps reduce pain and speed up your recovery, so you can return home sooner.

Our specialists are committed to making your experience as comfortable and personal as possible. You will find a warm, welcoming environment where smiles and genuine care are part of what we do every day.

Advanced Surgical Technology

We use new surgical approaches combined with leading technology and fast-acting anesthetics to help support a smooth surgical experience. For many microvascular procedures, our team uses minimally invasive or robotic-assisted techniques to offer:

  • Smaller incisions
  • Less post-surgical pain
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Faster recovery and return to daily activities

Most people have questions about surgery and what to expect. At TidalHealth, your surgeon will always be your best resource. Here are a few answers to questions we hear often regarding preparing for and recovering from microvascular surgery:

How will I prepare for my microvascular surgery?
Your physician will discuss your surgery with you during your office visit, explaining the risks, benefits, and alternatives. After you and your doctor decide on your treatment, our team will help schedule your surgery. You will be asked to fill out a pre-anesthesia questionnaire and a nurse will review this with you a few days before your procedure. Please let us know about any health problems or medications and bring your questions to your nurse's attention.

What should I bring with me on the day of surgery?

  • Two forms of identification, including one with a photo
  • Your health insurance cards
  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
  • Leave jewelry and valuables at home

What can I expect when I arrive?
When you arrive, you will be escorted to a room where you can change and prepare for surgery. Our staff will ask you about your health and current medications, and an IV will be started to give you medication and fluids. Your surgical team will meet with you to answer any last questions. Your safety and comfort are always our priorities.

What happens after my surgery?
After your surgery, you will be cared for in our recovery area, where your pain and recovery will be closely monitored. You will be given instructions for managing pain and for caring for yourself at home before discharge. If you are staying overnight, our nurses will continue to provide attentive care.

How should I care for myself at home after surgery?
For the first day after surgery, avoid driving, making major decisions, or using heavy machinery. Take pain medication as prescribed and do not mix it with alcohol. Follow all instructions given by your care team to help ensure a smooth recovery.
