X-rays
X-rays are a fast and effective imaging tool used to examine the inside of your body, especially bones, joints, and certain organs. At TidalHealth, our Imaging Department provides a full range of X-ray services with a focus on accurate results, patient comfort, and compassionate care.
What is an X-ray?
An X-ray is a quick, non-invasive test that creates images of structures inside your body using a small amount of radiation. These images help your healthcare provider detect injuries, evaluate joints, and monitor changes in bones or soft tissues.

- The test is quick, painless, and safe, with a low dose of radiation.
Safety Considerations
- X-rays are generally very safe.
- Let your provider or technologist know if you are pregnant or think you might be, so special precautions can be taken.
Getting Your Results
- A board-certified radiologist reviews your images and prepares a detailed report.
- Your healthcare practitioner will discuss the results and any next steps with you.

What happens during an X-ray?
You may stand or lie down while the technologist positions the X-ray device. You will need to stay still briefly while the images are captured.
Are X-rays safe?
