On the road for women’s health

This fall, TidalHealth Mobile Mammography will take to the road, improving access to care and promoting health equity for medically underserved women.

TidalHealth’s state-of-the art mobile mammography unit will provide comprehensive breast cancer screenings with 3D imaging to support earlier detection and treatment, ultimately reducing breast cancer mortality throughout the region.

A multidisciplinary team including community health workers, a nurse navigator, a social worker and a nurse practitioner will work together to assess social, environmental, behavioral and medical needs of patients. The multidisciplinary team will ensure each woman is connected to a primary care provider for continuity of care and wraparound social support and community-based resources.

TidalHealth will use GIS mapping technology and electronic medical record data and coordinate with community-based partners to identify hotspots of medical need, including neighborhoods, workplaces, and community centers. The TidalHealth Mobile Mammography schedule will be shared publicly so that anyone interested may schedule an appointment. The mobile unit will travel to sites throughout Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties in Maryland and Sussex County in Delaware.

By taking these proactive measures, in conjunction with connecting women to primary care and support, TidalHealth aims to detect potential breast cancer cases at an earlier stage, ensuring timely intervention and ultimately creating survivors.

The TidalHealth Foundation is just shy of $900,000 raised, with plans to close out the campaign by October 2025. It began in October 2023 with TidalHealth team members and was then launched to the public in June 2024. Since then, more than 1,000 individuals have contributed to the campaign. Every donation made in honor or memory of a loved one will be listed on the back of the bus. To help close out the campaign, consider making a donation.
