Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship

The Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at TidalHealth offers advanced training in the diagnosis and management of complex respiratory and critical care conditions. Fellows gain experience working in diverse clinical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and intensive care units, under the guidance of experienced faculty.

Our Goal

The TidalHealth Pulmonary Disease & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program will create physicians who will be recognized for the high-quality, efficient, effective, ethical, equitable and economical healthcare they provide to their future patients.

Our fellows will be exposed to a complete range of disease presentations, including obstructive lung diseases, neuromuscular disease, bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, transplant, lung cancer, sleep and rehabilitation, and will be trained in advanced therapies, including robotic bronchoscopy, ECMO and interventional pulmonology.

Our trainees will be as diverse and as dedicated to lifelong learning and teaching as our faculty.

Fellows will train under board-certified physicians until they are proficient enough to be granted autonomy. Fellows will avail themselves of research opportunities via the TidalHealth Richard A. Henson Research Institute and pursue life skills and leadership training via the Experiential Center for Learning (ExCeL), which includes sailing and flight training courses.

Welcome From Our Program Director

A new fellowship program is an opportunity to use the cumulative knowledge from existing programs to build something near perfect.

The fellows graduating from this program will be an asset to any community-academic program they join. Their training will be all-encompassing, with ample opportunity to specialize and discover their niche practice area. Fellows will also be trained to be leaders and innovators, and will have quality improvement and simulation center experience by the time they graduate.

We have a schedule that allows for six weeks off a year, to reflect on and consolidate what you learn during the busy rotations. We have social support systems to help you take care of yourself and your family. Our schedule is designed to optimize learning and build maximum experience without burnout.

Specialty training includes transplant work up and follow up, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, bronchiectasis, pulmonary rehab, PFT and exercise testing, TB/NTMB and chronic infections, pleural disease and interventional pulmonology, and neuromuscular diseases. You will have ECMO training and top-class multidisciplinary ICU training during your fellowship.

We might be one of less than a handful of fellowship programs that have training access to ILLUMISITE™ ion and galaxy robot platforms for lung nodule diagnosis and 3D fluoroscopy training.

We are looking for three self-motivated learners with a passion for pulmonology and critical care medicine. I look forward to helping you decide if we will be the best fit for your aspirations.

Sincerely,
Yashvir Singh Sangwan, MBBS
