Our Goal
The goal of the TidalHealth Healthcare Administration, Leadership & Management Fellowship is to cultivate the next generation of healthcare leaders who are adept in decision making, organizational governance and effective management practices. These future healthcare leaders will engage in unique experiences related to hospital leadership processes and operations that complement their clinical training. Fellows will learn skills to enhance the quality of patient care, navigate the complexities of various healthcare systems, and drive innovation in a rapidly changing medical landscape. This program aligns with the mission of TidalHealth, which is to improve the health of the communities we serve, by developing the leaders of the future to carry out this mission.

The TidalHealth Healthcare Administration, Leadership & Management Fellowship aims to:
- Engage fellows in health system operations, leadership and business science rotations across various departments, allowing them to apply healthcare management principles in real-world situations.
- Provide fellows with structured mentorship to aid in the development of leadership skills.
- Engage fellows in scholarly activities and a capstone project to promote advancements in research and evidence-based practice in healthcare leadership.
- Assist fellows with integrating their healthcare management skills into patient-centered practices, balancing leading initiatives while prioritizing patients.
Welcome From Our Program Director
Dear Fellows,
Welcome to the Healthcare Administration, Leadership & Management Fellowship program. I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations on your achievements in completing both your medical and master’s degree programs. Your decision to build upon these accomplishments and embark on the journey to become a physician executive is both inspiring and commendable.
This fellowship is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to thrive as a dynamic leader in the ever-evolving healthcare landscape. Over the next year, you will engage deeply with accomplished professionals, innovative thought leaders, and a community of peers who share your commitment to transforming healthcare systems for the better.
Our program offers a rich blend of theory and practical application. You will participate in monthly faculty-led blocks supported by a structured curriculum, including didactic lectures and active involvement in meetings and committees. Through a rotational experience across key departments within the TidalHealth organization — such as Medical Staff and Governance, Finance, HR, Risk and Legal, Facilities, IT, Quality Improvement, and Population Health — you will assume leadership roles and collaborate with interprofessional teams to improve efficiencies, patient outcomes and overall system operations.
A critical component of your fellowship will be engagement with the Executive Team and Board. This exposure will provide valuable insight into organizational priorities, resource allocation, capital planning and labor management.
You will also complete a yearlong capstone project that showcases your leadership in an enterprise-wide initiative. The project will be evaluated on your ability to plan strategically, execute effectively, manage resources, engage stakeholders and deliver measurable impact on system performance. You will be supported throughout this journey by our dedicated faculty, the process improvement team and the TidalHealth Richard A. Henson Research Institute.
Our goal is to support your professional development and prepare you to lead with integrity, vision, competence and compassion. The challenges you will tackle during this fellowship are those healthcare leaders face today — and your work will directly contribute to better outcomes for the communities and organizations you serve.
I encourage you to approach this experience with curiosity, resilience and a collaborative spirit. Know that you are not alone — our faculty, mentors and the broader TidalHealth community are here to support you every step of the way.
We are excited to partner with you on this transformative leadership journey, and I look forward to witnessing your growth and impact.
Warm regards,
Trudy Hall, MD
