Critical Care Medicine Fellowship

Curriculum

The TidalHealth Critical Care Medicine Fellowship curriculum is designed to build specialized skills and impart the unique knowledge required for competent practice as a Critical Care Fellow. This will be accomplished by rotations at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.

Rotations and experiences throughout the 2-year program are designed to:

• These rotations are designed to build essential clinical competencies and provide fellows with a strong foundation in each area.
• Through hands-on experience and guided learning, fellows will have adequate patient volumes and gain the practical skills necessary for continued professional growth.
• All clinical training is conducted under the supervision of board-certified and licensed physicians committed to high-quality education.

• Provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary clinical training through diverse ICU rotations to prepare fellows for practice in any critical care setting.
• Promote excellence in patient-centered, evidence-based care by developing fellows' clinical competence, procedural skills, and focus on safety and outcomes.
• Foster interprofessional teamwork and leadership by training fellows to collaborate and lead within diverse, multidisciplinary ICU teams.

• Support engagement in research, scholarly activity, and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of critical care medicine.
• Cultivate ethical communication, professionalism, and empathy to navigate the complex interpersonal and moral challenges of critical care.
• Encourage wellness, mentorship, and lifelong learning within a supportive environment that values continuous growth and self-reflection.

Application and Selection of Fellows

• The TidalHealth Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program participates annually in the National Resident Matching Program (the Match). During the Match, we will only review applications sent online with the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
• TidalHealth’s Fellow Selection Committee complies with the requirements for selection set forth in the ACGME Program Requirements for Graduate Medical Education in Critical Care Medicineas well as with applicable federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate based on sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability, or any other applicable legally protected status.

Requirements

• Applicants must hold a medical degree and must have completed an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency by the time of enrollment in the fellowship program.
• The ability to obtain a Maryland medical license.
• Documentation of passing USMLE or COMLEX exams
• Curriculum vitae
• Personal statement
• Three letters of recommendation, one of which should be from the program director of the residency program.  
• Scholarly activity such as research and publications

Application procedure

1. All applicants are required to complete the application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). 
2. All fellowship positions are filled through the NRMP.
