Welcome From Our Program Director

The mission of the TidalHealth General Surgery Residency Program is to provide excellent training to residents with a focus on quality, service, and community. TidalHealth has more than 100 years of experience keeping our community well and promoting the notion of being better together. Community care is at the center of what we do, and our goal is to constantly provide health care services that will meet the growing demand of our diverse population.

To continue the mission of serving our communities and being better together, residents in the General Surgery Residency Program will acquire knowledge from experienced and renowned faculty, practice-based research opportunities through the TidalHealth Richard A. Henson Research Institute, cutting edge surgical robotic technology and a state-of-the-art simulation center. Utilizing the knowledge and experiences gained over the five years of residency, the surgical resident will be able to integrate and apply into the clinical situation, including the ability to operate independently; the development of surgical judgement; and the ability to communicate effectively, to the patient and other caregivers, the plan for and results of care. And of course, upon completion of the program be confident as a leader and competent board-eligible surgeon to serve our local community and beyond.

I invite you to review the TidalHealth General Surgery Residency Program website. Here you will find information on the local area, curriculum, application process and what makes TidalHealth a unique place for your general surgery residency.
