Curriculum

Our curriculum provides a comprehensive, CREOG-aligned learning experience that integrates progressive clinical training, simulation and professional development. Residents participate in weekly didactics, continuity clinics, and advanced simulation using state-of-the-art laparoscopic and robotic platforms, building both confidence and competence in patient care.

The program also emphasizes leadership, business, quality improvement, and teaching skills, preparing graduates to excel as well-rounded physicians and future leaders in women’s health.

• Residents will rotate through the ambulatory clinic during all four years of the program as well as complete night float rotations and rotations at various sites for specialized instruction.
• Gynecology rotations, with a wide range of cases, will take place at either TidalHealth Peninsula or TidalHealth Atlantic.
• A practical Business in Medicine series will be integrated during didactic sessions
• A mentorship system will be implemented, and residents will be paired with faculty mentors based on their year and desired subspecialty for further guidance and support.
   

• Train residents who are prepared for independent practice in OB/GYN and are committed to providing patient-centered care in their community.
• Educate residents on the socioeconomic barriers and healthcare disparities that affect patients and families in our community. 

• Encourage professional growth and promote a passion for life-long learning through engagement in OB/GYN quality improvement and scholarly activity projects.
• Promote physician well-being and teamwork for its role in providing well-rounded patient care.

How to apply 

All applicants should complete and submit their application through ResidencyCAS. More information on required documents and materials needed to apply can be found on the ResidencyCAS website.  

The TidalHealth OB/GYN residency program participates annually in the National Resident Matching Program (the Match). During the Match, we will only review applications sent online through ResidencyCAS.

TidalHealth’s Resident Selection Committee complies with the requirements for selection set forth in the ACGME Program Requirements for Graduate Medical Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency.

Application Process

Our OB/GYN residency program uses a holistic review approach when evaluating applications. We understand that each applicant brings a unique background and set of experiences, and we carefully assess the full range of information in each application —academic performance, clinical experiences, personal statements, letters of recommendation, and more.

Program Requirements

• Successful completion of medical education from an accredited medical school
• The ability to obtain a Delaware training license and a Washington, D.C., training license
• Competitive scores on the USMLE/COMLEX exams

Characteristics of strong applicants include but aren’t limited to:

• A demonstrated interest in OB/GYN, clearly articulated through clinical experiences and in the personal statement.
• Above average academic performance reflected through board scores and letters of recommendation.
• Clear commitment to service, advocacy, or underserved populations, whether through volunteer work, leadership roles, or extracurricular engagement
• Involvement in research, specifically projects related to public health and women’s health.
• Geographic connection or interest in our region of the Mid-Atlantic area, especially the Delmarva Peninsula.
