Newborn care
At TidalHealth, we know welcoming a new baby is one of life’s biggest moments. Our team supports you and your family before, during, and after birth, making sure you feel comfortable and cared for every step of the way.
What to Expect During Your Stay
TidalHealth’s labor and delivery rooms are designed to keep you and your baby together, encouraging bonding and first moments. We support skin-to-skin contact right after birth and throughout your stay. When both mom and baby are ready, your baby can stay with you instead of the nursery, allowing more family time.
After delivery, you may move to our postpartum unit once you and your baby are stable. Families remain at the center of care, with support for every stage of newborn care in a gentle, comfortable environment.
Specialized Newborn Care
Our pediatric hospitalists and neonatologists are available 24/7 to care for newborns who need extra support. For babies born at or after 32 weeks gestational age and weighing three pounds or more, our Level II Special Care Nursery provides additional medical attention in a nurturing environment. The team collaborates with families to create the best care plan, including daily family-centered rounds to keep parents informed and involved.
Education and Support for Families
Preparing for a new arrival can bring many questions. TidalHealth provides educational classes and resources for newborn care and breastfeeding, including in-person classes, virtual tools, a breastfeeding helpline, and a mobile app for easy access. Our goal is to help families give their babies the healthiest start.
Supporting Families Through Every Experience
We offer support for families who experience the loss of a baby. The Special Treasures Are Remembered (STAR) program provides keepsakes and ongoing resources to help families through difficult times. Our team offers compassion and understanding for every journey.
No matter your newborn care needs, TidalHealth is committed to warmth, respect, and putting families first. We believe every family deserves personal, reliable care as they welcome their little one into the world.
