Welcome from our Program Director

Welcome to the TidalHealth Psychiatry Residency program. Set in a diverse and unique region, our program offers the opportunity to not only train but to be a catalyst for change in an area that urgently needs improved mental health access. As a resident at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center, you will work on the front lines of the Salisbury community where your skills and dedication will have an immediate, tangible impact. Our faculty and staff are excited to work with you as you develop into a clinician, leader, and advocate with the skills to practice in any environment.

This program is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in underserved areas. As you work with patients shaped by the socioeconomic realities of rural and coastal life, you’ll pioneer innovative care models and forge meaningful connections. You’ll develop creative community-based solutions and help to build a stronger, more accessible mental health system. By the time you complete your residency training, you will feel ready to lead in shaping both your and the community’s future.

My hope also is that you will take advantage of all that the city and the community have to offer. Salisbury has become an increasingly vibrant city that values diversity and celebrates global perspectives. Salisbury's cultural diversity is reflected in its growing international presence and the city’s tight-knit, friendly nature makes it easy for newcomers to build connections, whether through professional opportunities, outdoor activities like fishing or kayaking, or simply exploring the vibrant arts and culture scene.
