Alternative to magnesium citrate for patients of TidalHealth Gastroenterology in Salisbury
Please note this flexible sigmoidoscopy and lower EUS procedures
A Flexible Sigmoidoscopy or Lower EUS is a procedure recommended by your physician in order to examine part of the colon with a flexible instrument.
You will need to obtain one (1) small bottle of Miralax, Dulcolax 10mg and two (2) Fleet Enema's at your pharmacy.
The day before your procedure
- Light evening meal by 6 pm (clear liquids only afterwards)
- Take MiraLAX one capful (17grams) in 8 oz. of clear liquid of your choice between 7 and 8 pm
- At 9 pm, take Dulcolax 10 mg with another 8 oz. of clear liquid of your choice
- Nothing by mouth after midnight except your medications
The day of your procedure
- Two hours before your procedure administer first fleet enema and retain 5 to 10 minutes
- One hour before your procedure administer second fleet enema and retain 5 to 10 minutes
