    Overview

Thank you for your interest in completing an advanced practice clinical rotation or observation experience at TidalHealth.

We welcome motivated candidates to continue their learning in a clinical environment through the Preceptorship Program with the intent to receive personal instruction, training and supervision to meet your program requirements while increasing your understanding of health care in a rural community.

TidalHealth offers preceptorships to medical, physician assistant and advanced practice nursing students thanks to agreements with colleges and universities throughout the country.

For additional information after reviewing the steps below, contact the Medical Education Coordinator at [email protected]

    TidalHealth Application

    Step 1: Confirm Affiliation Agreement

Using the list below, please confirm that your college/university is listed as having a current affiliation agreement with TidalHealth.

If your college/university is not included on the list, please have your program representative contact us at preceptors[email protected] to initiate an agreement. Requests for agreements will be based on preceptor availability and can take several weeks for completion.

    Step 2: Request a Preceptor

We receive many requests from students seeking clinical rotations with TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, TidalHealth Nanticoke and TidalHealth Medical Partners. To better serve you, please complete the Preceptor Request form and return to [email protected] Based on availability, we will advise you if we were successful in matching you up with a preceptor.

    Preceptor Request Form

Step 3: Submit Agreement and Documentation

Once a preceptor has been established, please print and complete the Preceptorship Agreement to include your signature, a university representative signature and the preceptor signature; if the provider is an Advanced Practice Provider, i.e. Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Anesthetist or Certified Nurse-Midwife, ask your preceptor to also obtain their supervising physician signature. Please submit the completed agreement along with all required documentation to Jill North, Medical Education Coordinator at [email protected]. Once all paperwork is received and approved, the Medical Education Coordinator will contact you and issue clearance to begin your clinical rotation. We will make arrangements to obtain a photo ID Badge required to be worn during your clinical rotation.

    Preceptor Agreement

Step 4: Surgical Orientation (if applicable)

Preceptorships with a surgeon require the completion of an Operating Room (OR) Orientation. Please contact Susan Lynch at [email protected] to schedule. Depending on availability, the orientation may be scheduled for your first scheduled day when planned in advance. Following successful completion of the OR Orientation, Susan will sign the designated area on the Preceptorship Agreement.

Required Documentation for Current TidalHealth Team Members

TidalHealth team members must provide the following documentation to participate in apPreceptorship:

    • Two-page TidalHealth Preceptorship Agreement signed by the student, a school representative and the preceptor. Students may start their surgical rotations on time, however, will not be permitted in the Surgical Services area (OR) until the orientation is complete. It can be scheduled on a day during the student’s first week so they do not have to make a separate trip.
