Donna Murray, Director of the TidalHealth Foundation, left, and Penny Short, TidalHealth Nanticoke President, right, accept the annual Seaford Kiwanis’ gift of stuffed animals from the club’s Jim Thompson.
It's a holiday visit that brings as many smiles today as it did when it began.
The Seaford Kiwanis Club has been providing stuffed animals to the team at TidalHealth Nanticoke for well over a decade. Jim Thompson continued the much-welcomed donation on Friday, Nov. 10 when he stopped by the Seaford hospital with three full bags of the cuddly companions.
The bears, dolls and other animals immediately took up residence in Brooke’s Toy Closet, where they will be given, as needed, to kids who visit areas of the hospital like the emergency department (ED).
That unit can sometimes be a scary place for little ones, and the team at TidalHealth Nanticoke relies on the plush animals to bring a smile to a child's face at a time they need it most.
Thompson says the Seaford Kiwanis is all about helping kids. With the assistance of local businesses who donate the stuffed animals, the Kiwanis Club collects them after Christmas, stores them for a year, and then stops by the hospital with their generous gifts a few weeks before the following Christmas.
TidalHealth Nanticoke, its ED team and the TidalHealth Foundation thank the Seaford Kiwanis Club for continuing this wonderful holiday tradition.
