Chris DiPasqua, RN and Nursing Supervisor at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, has been selected as the September recipient of the Daisy Award for his care and compassion shown recently to a patient and veteran.
A fellow team member recently wrote the following in support of his nomination for the nursing caregiver award.
As nursing supervisor at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, Chris encounters numerous individuals and always treats everyone with a friendly greeting and the utmost respect.
When he found out that one of the patients in the Progressive Care Unit served in countless battles during World War 2, he took it upon himself to make sure to honor this brave man by bringing him an American flag and other decorations on Memorial Day to recognize his service to our country.
Chris is a commissioned Lieutenant O-3 in the United States Navy on top of his clinical roles at TidalHealth, where he has been employed since 2007.
This is just one of many ways Chris goes above and beyond for our patients.
Chris DiPasqua was recently honored with the Daisy Award in a ceremony before his colleagues. He received certificates commending him for being an extraordinary nurse, and a sculpture called A Healer's Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, CA, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little-known but not uncommon autoimmune disease.
The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
