TidalHealth physicians donate to GME

Giving back and investing in their future has always been a hallmark of TidalHealth Peninsula Regional physicians.

On top of being mentors for the graduate medical education (GME) interns practicing at the Salisbury hospital, physicians have stepped up their commitment with a $10,000 donation in support of the new Edward Q. Wilgus Community Clinic under construction in the E. Church St. neighborhood of Salisbury.

At a recent quarterly staff meeting of physicians, the TidalHealth Foundation was presented with the check which will name examination room 6 in the clinic in honor of Salisbury providers.

TidalHealth’s newest primary care office is strategically located in a historically underserved area of the city and will also be home base for the health system’s internal medicine resident physicians. It’s expected to generate between 12,000 and 15,000 visits per year.

It’s intended to bridge the gap between the neighborhood and healthcare, reconnect residents to resources, stimulate residential development and reduce emergency department usage for general medical needs.
